View from our Deluxe Oceanfront Room balcony

My husband and I have cruised the Southern Caribbean and it included a port stop in Bridgetown, Barbados. We enjoyed the day so much that we wanted to go back to Barbados and stay at a resort. We chose Sugar Bay Barbados. This is an all-inclusive resort located in Bridgetown. This is on the south coast located about 30 minutes from Grantley Adams Int'l Airport (BGI). We had a round-trip transfer.

Upon arriving, our luggage was unloaded and taken to the lobby. This is a very nice airy lobby with a breezeway that leads directly to the private beach. Check-in was quick and we were taken to our beautiful deluxe oceanfront room with a balcony located on the 3rd floor. There is an elevator available. We had a great view. The beach is beautiful with a lagoon. That helps make the water calmer and you just might see sea turtles along the rocks in the water. Also, sea turtles are known to lay their eggs on this property. We actually got to see hatchlings. A team is called to the resort to retrieve the hatchlings and take them to deep waters in order to save them from birds and crabs.

There are restaurants and bars on property. The Reef Restaurant is the main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Umi and Sizzle are specialty restaurants that require reservations. Depending on how many nights you stay, you will get to enjoy a free dinner one night at your choice of restaurant. Additional nights cost extra. There is also all-day self-serve Driftwood Cafe that serves teas, coffees, light sandwiches and sweet treats. There are five bars - Swim-up Pool Bar, Reef Bar, Sizzle Bar, Collins Beach Bar and the Lazy Mongoose Pub. Nightly live music by local islanders.

There is a spa and fitness center. The resort offers a kids and teens club along with babysitting (extra charge). Weddings packages available. Water sports activities available. A hospitality lounge with showers is available for early check-ins and late departures. A gift shop is located near the lobby. Tipping is not expected but greatly appreciated by the wonderful staff. Within walking distance is Bridgetown’s South Coast Boardwalk.

Tours and excursions can be booked through the concierge desk located in the lobby.

The resort is definitely worth a repeat visit.
